Ruthie’s Family Restaurant, nestled in the heart of Rosebud, is a relatively new establishment looking to make its mark. The owners, hailing from St. Louis, have brought a bit of their hometown flavor to the table.
Atmosphere and Service:
Upon entering Ruthie's, the ambiance is cozy and welcoming, fitting for a family diner. However, during my visit, I found the interaction with one of the owners, Lindsey, to be less than pleasant. Her demeanor came off as somewhat curt and dismissive, which was disappointing when expecting a warm, small-town hospitality.
Food Quality:
The menu at Ruthie's offers a variety of typical diner fare. I opted for the burger, which was decent but nothing standout. It was cooked to order but lacked the special touch that distinguishes a great diner burger from the average. The coleslaw, on the other hand, was unfortunately dry and underseasoned, hinting that perhaps the kitchen was having an off day.
Overall Experience:
Ruthie's has the potential to be a staple in Rosebud for locals and visitors alike. However, based on my experience, there are areas that need improvement, both in terms of food quality and customer service. While the ambiance is generally inviting, the overall experience would benefit greatly from friendlier service and more attention to the culinary details that make dining out a joy.
For future visitors, I would recommend trying some of the other menu items that might be more indicative of the kitchen's capabilities. Additionally, engaging with the staff might help in gauging the service better, as everyone can have an off day.
Despite the shortcomings during my visit, I hold out hope that Ruthie’s can refine its offerings and service, as it continues to settle into the Rosebud dining scene.
